Massage Therapy specializes in the manual manipulation of your body's soft
tissue. It is used to treat acute and chronic conditions, and is effective as a
preventative measure that has benefits for total well being. Following are the
techniques we utilize most during treatments:
REMEDIAL MASSAGE
THERAPY
After
a proper history and assessment, Remedial Massage often helps
reduce pain and increase
mobility. Its aim is not to relax
or reduce stress but to aid in physical relief to our clients.
Based on Swedish massage techniques using light or deep pressure
and muscle energy mobilization, we try to achieve
our goals.
MUSCLE ENERGY TECHNIQUE
A technique that when applied
directly is based on the principle of reciprocal inhibition,
and when applied
indirectly
is based
on post contraction relaxation.
The goal is to reduce muscle spasm or increase length of a tissue.
SPORTS
MASSAGE
It combines different massage
techniques to enhance sports performance and recuperation.
It is an effective component of any training program.
Sports
massage may involve prevention and maintenance, on site pre
and post event massage and rehabilitation programs for those
who are injured.
RELAXATION MASSAGE
A smooth
flowing style that promotes general relaxation, improves
circulation and relieves muscular tension. It
can also be used as a great assessment
tool and guide for the appropriate treatment of any issues that could
eventually become chronic.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
It is a
very effective hands on technique that provides sustained
pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate
pain and restore motion. The
term myofascial refers to the connective tissue that covers and is between
every
muscle, bone, nerve, artery, vein and internal organs. If the fascia
becomes shortened or restricted from trauma or repetitive movement like
poor posture
it needs to be lengthened. The therapist uses a very slow technique with
no oil or lotion to release these restrictions to decrease pain and increase
movement.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
It is
a gentle hands on method of evaluating and enhancing functioning
of a physiological body system called the craniosacral
system, which
is comprised
of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protect the
brain and spinal cord.
Using a soft touch, therapists
release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve
the functioning of
the central nervous system. The
client’s
clothing can remain on for this type of treatment. This treatment can
be good for chronic neck and back pains, headaches, migraines, TMJ dysfunctions,
and
many nervous system disorders.
LYMPH DRAINAGE THERAPY
It is
a hands on method of lymph drainage using distinctive manual
processes. The therapists perform manual lymph mapping
of the vessels to assess
overall circulation and determine the best alternate pathways for draining
body
fluid stagnations. Lymph drainage can be helpful with burns, scars, insomnia,
headaches,
chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and pre and post surgery.
REMEDIAL
EXERCISE
Remedial exercises are designed
to address imbalances with counter balance movements which
will then over a period
of
time return the muscles to
their balanced state. Daily exercise programs are set to suit the individual’s
needs and lifestyles.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
It is
a refined area of massage therapy which focuses on specific
trigger points. A “Trigger Point” is an area
of tightness in the muscle which can cause referral patterns
in the body. The therapists
use heavier
pressure in
the spot of focus in order to reduce the area of tightness.
